Today in Council, one of the things well discuss is a 10:1 Pay Ratio. This is to lobby the university to implement a maximum ratio between the top paid employees and the lowest paid of 10:1 (meaning the top paid can earn no more than 10x the amount of the lowest paid). Currently the highest and lowest wages are £374,000 and £13,353 per year respectively, which is a ratio of 28:1. This ratio could be reduced through increasing the wages of those at the bottom, or reducing those at the top. One potential amendment that has been submitted by two councillors is to change it to a 20:1 ratio, feeling thats more likely to be enacted as a first step. What do you think?
