Today in drive thru, we forgot to hand our guest their cake with their family meal. They pulled away and Samantha exclaimed, Their cake!. I grabbed the cake, ran toward the door and hollered, what color is the car? I busted through the front door and started running as fast as my old legs will. I caught up to the car half way to the highway and paced it until they stopped at the highway (imagining the Chariots of Fire theme song & me in slo-mo). I handed off cake and ran back inside. The lobby was semi-full and my staff was all staring and laughing. A few minutes later, a gentleman asked to see “the lady who chases cars”. I went up and he wanted to buy me lunch because I was so dedicated! I laughed and told him no and that I was the owner and it really mattered to me to get the cake to them. He insisted and so I suggested he buy the staff lunch with the 20 he was trying to hand me. He said, “I didn’t see any of them running after no cars” and so I told him I ate off the value menu and it would only cost him a dollar to buy my lunch and he gave me the 20 and left. Ha. I hated taking it but it made it even more fun/funny.
