Today in history On Nov. 6, 1528, the Spanish conquistador deVaca became the first known European to set foot in what is now Texas. In 1913, Mohandus Ghandi was arrested while leading a march of Indian miners in South Africa. In 1935, the first flight of the Hawker Hurricane occurred. In 1962, the U.N. ended economic and military relations with South Africa because of racist apartheid.
