Today is 9/11. A day that we will forever remember as one of the worst tragedies in U.S. history. It is right there with the attack on Pearl Harbor, the shooting of JFK, the Challenger Explosion. I think about how over the decades that the U.S. has helped create its own enemies and then have to bring them down through military action. Afghanistan, Iran Contra, Manuel Noriega, ISIS, the list goes on. In the 80s we backed Afghanistan against the Soviets. Result=The rise of the Taliban. We helped Noriega in Panama and had to bring him down. We backed Iraq in the Iran/Iraq war. Heck, Detroit even gave Saddam the key to the City. We backed ISIS to bring down Assadd in Syria, but that totally backfired. Now, once again, must put down another group we helped. Why must the U.S. always have to be the Policeman for the entire World. There will never be peace in the Middle East, they dont even like each other let alone us. The attack on The World Trade Center brings back memories for me of not completing the job during Desert Storm. It made me feel like that we didnt do our jobs during the war. It took me several years after 9/11 to realize that we did do our jobs over there and I agree with what then President Bush, first one, said. We were not there to hunt down Saddam, we were there to liberate Kuwait. We succeeded in that job. Now today, on this 13th Anniversary, I think about where I was when the attacks occurred and lives that were lost and the grieving that still takes place today. About how without questioning orders thousands of Police and Firefighters started up the stairs of the Twin Towers with the hopes of rescuing people, not caring that they had to climb 90+ flights of stairs. Thats what they do, they lay their lives on the line everyday. Scott Gochis, I thank you for what you did in the days after this National Tragedy and Thank all of your brothers who lost their lives in the line of duty, serving this great country.
