Today is All Souls Day Death is a cruel enemy. Death inflicts on us deep wounds which never seem to heal. Our hearts rebel against the fact that people whom we loved and with whom we lived should just vanish and go away without returning. There were bonds of love and friendship which united us with our dead brothers and sisters. Are all these bonds broken and our dead brothers and sisters: are all these bonds broken and destroyed by death? Is there no way left in which we can communicate with them? Indeed, there is, on this day of All Souls we do much more than just remembering the dead. With them we are united around the Alter, together with them we stand under the cross of the Lord when we celebrate the Eucharist. It is the cross of Christ which bridges the dark valley of the death and Unites the living and the dead. May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen
