Today is January 5 and yesterday all day was January 4th, obviously, of course. But the cool thing is that it meant nothing to me yesterday, until this morning, when I realized that it has been 8 years since my boy was diagnosed with leukemia. 8 years ago I brought him into the pediatrician for low energy and a persistent sore throat and we ended up going into the hospital directly from there. It was an instant admission to Baird 5 and I remember Sue Bender had to bring me my personal items from home. And I couldnt talk to her and say thanks because we were talking to the doctors about how my son who had never had antibiotics and ate all organic was going to have to have two transfusions immediately and was going to begin chemotherapy the next morning. Well, I was reflecting on how grateful I am for him in my life and it hit me that is was our diagnosis anniversary! I am a very lucky mom. He is the light of my life and he is damn funny also. And cancer is seeming more and more a distant memory :)
