Today is National Cat Day. Thousands of adoptable cats and kittens are put down each day due to lack of homes. If youve never owned a feline, theres no better time than today to join the most prestigious club in the world: Cat Owners Club. If you already have a kitty (or eight), after pampering your furry friend on their special day, discuss with them if now is the right time to save a life with a new addition to your cat clan. If outstanding circumstances (such as being really lame or being deathly allergic to cats) prevent you from owning one, there are plenty of things you can do from afar. For all decent human beings, the most important thing you can do is to spay or neuter your animals. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats. That is 420,000 kitties that will potentially never have homes or take homes away from other animals in need. If we fix them, we can fix this.
