Today is Rivers 3rd birthday. At this time 3 years ago, she was about an hour old. She was quiet, yet alert, soft. The morning she was born, was the most perfect morning of my life. The sky was overcast, I hadnt been in the hospital laboring all day, Deb was there. I ate a cheeseburger for breakfast. My baby River playlist full of peaceful songs meant to bring me peace during labor were gently playing in the background of this new scene in my life, and I felt the blessings of Gods presence so, so near. Each of the 3 birthdays River has had up to this point, I almost have had to brace myself for. Wanting to relive the morning she entered into the world, but knowing I cant is oddly frustrating. I wish I could watch from the corner of the room like Mr. Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Of course I cant. But I have today. And this morning, River is anything but quiet, always alert. Soft still, but usually with tangled hair and dirty cheeks. I woke again this year to an overcast sky, I woke up next to Shepherd, who had a terrible dream last night. I have not yet had a cheeseburger for breakfast, although it doesnt sound too bad... My 3 sweet kids are watching cartoons together, and I still feel God so, so near. Thank You Jesus, fro my life, my family, our health, and for 3 absolutely perfect years with River.
