Today is World Sepsis Day and at NHS Lothian we’ve been showing staff & visitors to some of our sites the importance of recognising the signs of sepsis. Don’t know what it is? Sepsis is the body’s response an infection damages its own tissues and organs. It can lead to shock, multiple organ failure, and death, especially if it is not recognized early and treated promptly. Sepsis claims 37,000 lives each year in the UK, that’s more than breast cancer and bowel cancer combined. Early treatment can make all the difference- find out more at the link below.
