Today is a good day. Today a special boy had a special day out. It was South Cheshire`s Big Day Out in Dorfold Park, Nantwich. Lots of local organisations were in attendance in aid of the Crewe & Nantwich Royal British Legion. There were lots of craft stalls, cheese & wine tasting, live music, kiddie disco, face painting, bouncy castles, jewellery & fashion, lots and lots of food stalls, games, lucky dips, Zumba, WW1 art exhibition and a little fun dog show hosted by local radio station RedShift Radio. Our beautiful long term rescue Kain was invited along by RedShift Radio. He had his 5 minutes of fame up on the stage while he, Summer Hill and JAWT were all promoted.(Yes shy little old me was on the microphone ha ha!) Many folks had seen him walking around and thought he was with his owners. They had no idea he was with me, and Gary from the kennels, where he has been loved for the last 15 months, for a day out. He soon drew attention, people were flocking to stroke him, touch him, play with him and just say hello. Kids were loving high fiving him, cuddling him and giving him treats - and he took it all in his stride. In fact he loved it. Many folk took his photo and promised to post him all over Facebook, organisations with their own groups and sites all joined in. Lots of interest in him, lots of business cards handed out too. To top it all he took part in the little fun dog show where he promptly won 1st place in “Best tricks” for his high fiving ability, and 2nd place in both waggiest tail and dog the judge would like to take home. No rosettes but lots of goodie bags and toys as prizes. He was faced with many dogs and was so well behaved, better than we could have wished for. I couldn’t be more proud of Kain, well done big boy, for a dog living in kennels for that amount of time you looked like you lived that life every day. I didnt take my camera ( I really didnt realise it was going to be that big, several hundred visitors were there!) but we snuck a couple of pics on Gary`s phone. Thank you Gary for a great day, lets hope it gets Kain closer to his forever home xx
