Most people I talk to (including my best friends) have the misconception that they need to get in shape” before starting CrossFit. They see YouTube videos of professional athletes performing amazing feats of strength and endurance and think everyone is that good. Although it’s great to see what’s possible, those athletes are the 1%. The rest of us are doing scaled down versions of workouts to the best of our abilities. CrossFit workouts are designed for universal scalability which means 2 people of different abilities can perform the same movements with intensities that are doable yet challenging for both. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.
