Today is a shameful day in D.F. Douglass history. I was told that the 1981 State Football Champions never received their State rings. When I heard this news I figured why havent anyone ever told the true story of the 1981 Hornets. So I told a few soldiers over here the story how my town was divided by race. Those Hornets deserve more recognition than a T-shirt. I idolized that team and I wanna hear the story. I contacted one graduate of that class and my team here will contact ESPN 30 for 30, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and the Macon Telegraph. I think citizens of Montezuma and Alumni should have a fundraiser to try and get those rings for these true warriors. The story has to be told how town was divided by a 1981 State Champion and the 1996 State Champions and came together finally to Bridge the Gap!
