Today is a special day and a milestone. Some of you know that seperate to my DJ Ben Events business I work a couple of days a week in an aged care facility in the Barossa as a personal carer. As part of this I have also been playing the piano for a 1-hour sing-a-long session every Sunday afternoon there for 5 and a half years, and having piano playing skills is ultimately what got me my job there. Today is my last music session as I cannot do sundays any longer because of my hectic DJing and wedding commitments on weekends. Its been such a pleasure bringing this musical escape to people that mean so much to me, even though some weeks Ive had very late nights or weddings 150kms away the night before...Ive always made it back in time by 3pm to tinkle away on the ivory keys. Music is so personal and also so therapudic. Its been a tough decision to give this afternoon shift up but its the right thing to do for me. For privacy reasons I will not mention where I work but Thanks to the day / afternoon staff there over the years for your support.
