Today is an interesting day of reflection in addition to giving thanks. As my family is either out of town or under the weather, I enjoy a day of solitude. As I partake of the traditional Thanksgiving meal of home made black bean soup, my thoughts and prayers go out to my friend and client who was admitted to hospice this past Tuesday. Her strength, faith, humor, and resolve throughout an earlier bout of breast cancer have been inspiring. Now, as metastasized cancer consumes her at age 43, the sobering thoughts of the brevity and fragility of life cross my mind. We take so much for granted in our lives; family, friends, freedom, tomorrow. As you enjoy family, the meal, the fellowship, take an extra moment to really appreciate and be thankful for what you have and the beauty in all things around you.
