Today is another Gods given day and I am thankful that we can all see celebrate this day together, no matter where you find yourself. We can appreciate this moment for a reason greater than what we can imagine. As for me, I am layman just working to get bye everyday and giving thanks to my creator for looking after those of my friends and family members. I feel excited every time I speak directly or indirectly to you through this media because of our common tie. This is why I feel today is another wonderful time since I now have the opportunity to speak to you specifically on a critical issue. In recent days our country have come to face with one of the deadest and incurable viruses ever imagined in human history and very fearing by scientists in the scientific arena. This virus, Ebola, according to experts and doctors is contagious, not only so, but also incurable, making it the fastest human killer virus than even HIV which is now treatable. I was devastated when I first learned about the virus outbreaks in neighboring Guinea and after a brief period, Liberia. It is sadden that we have to face such dangerous virus in our homes, communities and towns, but we have to stand up to the beats as many people unwillingly surrender their lives to this virus. Unfortunately, I cannot stop this virus from taking one more innocent life, but it is not impossible to stop the spread of the virus in other parts of the country if we all agree that this virus is real and deadly. I am confident in your commitment and hope to rescue your nation from this virus, and I come to on this Gods given day calling onto you for a timely intervention before we loose another precious lives. Let us join hands and speak to our neighbors about the severity of the virus and simple steps they can take to break the chain of transmission. The simplest and easiest intervention that anybody can learn is communication. We must speak honestly in layman language that is clearly understood by a 3rd grader. It is a pulse if one can speak in his/her dialect for others to understand the message and ways to prevent themselves. As it has been spelled out by experts prevention is the only effective treatment known today. Therefore, we have a task to accomplish as a people; it is not an individual undertaking. I think it is everyones responsibility to help stop the Ebola virus from inflicting further psychological and emotional pain on our nation. We can do this, and nothing is greater than will of the people. We can choose to safe lives by joining the fight or to loose many lives by doing nothing. If we fail to participate in this noble campaign, it means we silently embracing the destruction of lives and our beloved country. Liberia is all we have to cherish and we must think of what kind of Liberia do we want for our children to inherit. Should it be the Liberia engulfed by Ebola or the one known to the world for its open-door policy and kindness? Let us meditate on the above question as we face the Ebola virus. May God bless us all, Amen!
