Today is my first time attempting a whole bird in the crock pot. I decided not to use much spice, since I want to make a broth with the bones when Im done and didnt want a lot of flavor besides the chicken in the broth. I figure I can always add flavor later but I cant take it out once its in. I also dont know where I got this idea, or if it will be good, but I cut up some apples and oranges and put them in the crock with the chicken and sprinkled cayenne over the top. Dinner in six hours.
