Today is national record store day - Weekly Birmingham visits spending my Educational Matenience Allowance in various stores from 2002 onwards - HMV was one of the most under rated it was full of white label imports and unreleased stuff not just pop , Tempest upstairs used to be a que of people waiting for a turntable you could smoke cigarettes while jamming away , Got loads of me Bassline bits from there but there was some SICK minimal techno jams Laven & MSO - Looking for God was best find I had in there. Then we had Hard to Find this place was like library of music rows and rows of vinyl old and new found an original Def Jam Wizards on Wax in 2005 in there sold it for £80. MASSIVE records (its now a gay shop called prowler) for me was too over priced never had many finds from there , 3 shades records on Needless alley now that was a shop I used to dig the crates on the floor found some gems Groove Yard records unplayed amongst them. Dance Music finder had 2 diff buildings that was another library of music towards the end tho the guy refused to get the stylus out so you could play records unless you was gonna spend more than a tenna lol. Reddington Rare records - Had few boxes of dance TGW and Disco Rouge was found in there we now dont have many if any left at all, Music Exchange small brook Queens way is still there , But for Dance thats it. Gotta big up The Diskery still going strong and friendly staff. Ive also been up and down the country and around the world in record shops from Londons Music exchanges / black market , Berlins Space Hall / hard wax, NYC The Thing , Amsterdam , Ibiza , France had some amazing times digging vinyl. Now I turn up to gigs with a USB stick and could not be happier. BUT I still will always look for vinyl - Its a great hobbie Long live vinyls - youtube/watch?v=xVYN8WNRsyM
