Today is our 44th anniversary and we took a few hours away from home to visit the South Shore. Salt-box houses decorated for Christmas, a light fog over the water at 2C, and lunch in the old Lunenburg jail house, now a family restaurant. The Bluenose II was at anchor in white wrap for winter, it was quiet in town and the fish & chips were perfect to the low-volume of Christmas carols rather than the blare of electronics you can get in larger communities. It didnt get busy until we headed back on the old 14 highway, where more than a few vehicles were carrying Christmas trees home. They will be fresh and aromatic long after early trees wither away. A nice day, very different from the winter storm on the day we married.
