Today is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Sir Martin Gilbert is Winston Churchill’s official biographer, and the author of Auschwitz and the Allies. In January of 2007, Michael interviewed him after returning from his own visit to Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Gilbert shared perspective on the lack of Allied bombing of the rail lines and camps, and they discussed whether Holocaust denial should be illegal. This recording with a historical titan stands the test of time.
