Today is the 8th anniversary of my kidney transplant! I. Cannot thank my nephew Kevon McCarty enough, literally for the gift of life. He selflessly gave me the kidney, and it changed his life in a lot of ways! He started an organ donor campaign ay UMKC, he went and graduated from Medical School because of his experience with the transplant. He mentors potential donors, who have questions and concerns! I think it ended up being a gift to both of us. My nephrologist told me I could not prevent Kevon from doing something nice, when I was uncertain about taking a kidney from a 22 year old. My friend, Meghan McQuain Sankey, called me today to tell me that she has been put on the kidney recipient list. Ironically, she is eligible for a kidney on Kevon and my anniversary day. If any of my Facebook Friends have O negative blood type and want to give a person a chance to live, and possibly change your own life, let me know! I will put you in touch with Meghan to be rested for donation!
