Today is the 90th anniversary of the Immigration Act of 1924. This act limited the number of immigrants allowed into the US to 2% of the number of people of each nationality already living in the US. The aim of the law was to further restrict immigration of Southern and Eastern Europeans, mainly Jews fleeing persecution in Poland and Russia, and prohibit the immigration of Middle Easterners, East Asians and Asian Indians. #DiversityStoryteller
