Today is the beginning of a week-long celebration leading up to my retirement from active duty next Friday, 26 September. The weekend starts with picking up someone I care for dearly at BWI tonight. Tomorrow will be a pre-retirement ceremony in front of the Os dugout at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, followed by a delicious lunch at Stoney Creek Inn & Restaurant and then capped off back at Camden Yards for the game against the Red Sox. In addition to my dear sweet friend, I get to share this special day with the man who talked me into joining the Marine Corps (David Donley) and his wife & son; one of the finest, if not the finest soldier in the army (CSM Tommy Thompson) and his wife and kids; my wonderful parents (Robert & Nadine Mullinax); my beautiful daughters (Ashley & Brittany); two of my three siblings (Joy & Mike - Denise, you will be missed); a fellow Os fan & my ceremonial retiring official, Jud Whitlock; and possibly a professional photographer & her husband. Sounds like a great weekend to me!
