Today is three weeks from my transplant. Although I continue to - TopicsExpress

Today is three weeks from my transplant. Although I continue to heal and get stronger each day, my kidney function has declined a bit over the past week. My creatine level has gone from 1.4 to 1.9 (lower is better). My Prograf level has gotten too high. This is a really good immunosuppressant but in high doses it hurts the kidney. My white blood cell count was also very low yesterday. This is from Cellcept (another immunosuppressant). My doctors are reducing the amount that I take each day to try and get them back in range. They think that once this happens, my kidney function will improve. I had an ultrasound yesterday, just to make sure there are no blockages and the kidney is working correctly. The surgeons tell me that this medication dance is normal in the first month. I am taking a ridiculous amount of medications and vitamins/supplements. I take 30-35 pills per day. Talked to my donor, Phil Wirtz, today and he is better and is back to work full time. His kidney has picked up the pace and his numbers are back in the normal range. I go back on Thursday for more labs and to see the surgeons. Hoping for my kidney function to stabilize or improve. Thanks for all your prayers and support. Thank you to my angel, Tina Savinda Hutchins, for taking care of me and walking with me every day.
