Today is time up for the individual who dumped their greyhound - TopicsExpress

Today is time up for the individual who dumped their greyhound at/near Ellough Airfield. This poor lad as re-homed by a trainer known previously to off-load his dogs at the end of their racing days free to a good home where he can tell by your voice that the dog will be looked after. No questions asked, no home checked, no advice and support, no come-back and no luck for the dog. Thats before any considerations about do you work, do you know where your vet is, do you have a garden, are you able to afford to feed the dog, do you have other pets, have you thought this through...the list goes on... Thank you so much to the family who caught him and took him home overnight until he could be picked up and come into kennels. From here on we know hell be safe! Hes already seen the vet twice in the 7 days with us. He only weighs 26kg and hes a decent sized lad, this compares to 37.5kg for the lad laying at my feet and 36.5kg for the lad I lost earlier this year. He needs to get some decent food down and get his weight back to a normal level. Hes on antibiotics as the vet cannot do anything to his teeth until he has these in his system. His teeth are so rotten you can smell them without the need to look. His mouth was bleeding from the infection and the amount of abrasive tarter and plaque build up, so much so that many of his teeth cant be seen anymore. You only need to see and smell one mouth that is brown/green from decay and blood to know you dont want to see another! It goes without saying once he is up to it he needs to be neutered as this wasnt done prior to being re-homed likewise he needs a course of vaccinations. Time for Stray to turn the corner and start again... He can officially be named today. He has had such good care by the ladies at the kennels. He likes everyone there and I dont think its just cupboard love and down to the square meals he now gets (soaked to mush of course to prevent more bleeding) As he gets himself back on the road to being able to go into a forever home well keep you up to date. By the way...yes this has been reported to the racing authority, especially when the trainer has past form. As to whether they do anything is out of our hands. Well concentrate on the boy.
