Today it’s all about U2- live. When I was stationed overseas in England, my supply job was in MIsson CAPabilities Which was a 7 day a week,24 hours job, it never stops. I worked the night shift and rotated it with 2 other gentlemen. When it was my turn I always tried to catch the John Peel radio show on BBC radio. John Peel is one of the most influential DJ’s of all time, Google him. In the fall of 1980 ,He played one of U2’s 1st 45’s,I believe it was “I Will Follow”. I loved it from 1st listening ,and watched them go from complete unknowns to mega stars . Therefore I make the argument that I was the very 1st American U2 fan. I just missed seeing them in a London club during the my last few months in England in 1981 as my Air Force Enlistment wound down. Without a doubt, I jumped at the chance to see them two years later at Curtis Hixon in Tampa in June of 1983. This tour was in support of their third album “War” playing such classics as Sunday Bloody Sunday and “Two Hearts Beat As One.” Man, it was a great set! They were young and hungry! I remember some girl crawled onto the stage and Bono had to dance the waltz with her all over the stage until security came. My next show was with Melissa and my brother David Snively at the Lakeland Civic Center in Feb 1992. This was a smaller venue for the group at that time. They did it as a thank you to Lakeland as they used the Civic Center as their practice venue for the ZOO TV tour. We had decent tickets because David had a great connection at work....one of his co-workers was married to the Rock FM Station program director in Gainesville Florida. A great chance to get good seats for this SOLD OUT show! The neighborhood Melissa and I live in has at least 3 hard core U2 fans, so we did group trips to see U2---at the Ice Palace in Tampa in Nov 2005, and at Tampa Stadium in Oct 2009. Both were great shows, but I personally favor the 2005 show. Last but not least, my wife and her ladies took a trip to NYC last year and ending up MEETING The Edge and Larry Mullen JR outside of the best rock and roll dive bar called Manitobas-- see the photo. The link below is for Still Havent Found What Im Looking For The music video for this song was filmed on Fremont Street in Las Vegas on 12 April 1987. They had filmed at 3 or 4 in the morning ... afterwards U2took the Las Vegas Cops that had managed crowd control out for breakfast. Besides loving the music, the video brought back great memories of living in Las Vegas from 1976 to 1979. Before they stopped using the street for actual traffic, I used to drive down Fremont Street all the time as it was close to my apartment. vimeo/73577436
