Today marks five years from the day I dropped out of highschool, - TopicsExpress

Today marks five years from the day I dropped out of highschool, packed up my little tercel, and drove to a new start in Fort Wayne. What an amazing journey it has been. I have seen so very much, and changed in ways I didnt know were even possible. Within months of dropping out I was on food stamps, returning my couch pillows every month to pay the rent, and eating beans from a can like it was my job. Within a year I fell in love, I became unemployed, I would awaken to gunshots outside my bedroom window, I moved, I moved again, and I moved again. I learned what it meant to join two families and two lives together, and merely two years later I learned what it felt like to separate them again (although some ties last a lifetime). I have seen some of the ugliest aspects of life, and Ive been blessed to know some of the most beautiful. I had no idea I would ever get to this place in my life, reflecting on how things change, and how things remain the same. To the people I have hurt along this journey, I am so truly sorry, it was a long road, and I still dont have it figured out yet, but I pray that Im doing better. To those I have helped along the way... I hope that I can do more. Most importantly, to those of you (most of you) who have done one or the other or both to me... THANK YOU... There is no way Id be who I am, or who I plan to be, without those two perpetual aspects of life. I have been so very blessed over the last five years and also everyday, by the people, events, relationships, and struggles of life. God has a beautiful plan, and I only hope that I can continue on the path chosen for me. 18-23 and beyond. With all the love in the world K. E. H.
