EIGHT DAY Opening Prayer: O Holy Infant Jesus of Prague, behold us prostrate at Thy feet imploring Thy blessing and assistance. We firmly believe in Thy goodness, Thy love and Thy mercy. We also know that the more we honor Thee, the more Thou wilt bless us. Remember that thou hast told us to ask, to seek, and to knock at the Door of Thy Infinite Mercy. So it is with the greatest confidence that we kneel before Thee today. Teach us how to ask that we may receive; show us how to seek that we find. Be pleased to listen while we knock, O Divine Infant Jesus, and open Thy loving Heart to our trustful supplication. Amen. O Mary, Mother of God and our Immaculate Mother pray to Jesus for us. MEDITATION The Holy Name of Jesus “And thou shalt call His name Jesus” (Luke 1:31) How sweet, how powerful, how consoling is the Holy Name of Jesus! The very thought of this Holy Name fills the soul with joy. There is no sweeter sound in heaven or on earth. The name of Jesus is a name of Majesty and of power because it is the name of the Incarnate Son of God. It is only because it was formulated in heaven. When the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was to be the Mother of God, he said: “Thou shalt call His name Jesus, He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and of His Kingdom there shall be no end.” Saint Paul tells us that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bend in adoration. All the inhabitants of heaven, earth and those under the earth, must adore this thrice holy Name. The name of Jesus is consoling, animating and inspiring. In facing their ordeal, thousands upon thousands of martyrs found courage and strength by simply whispering this Holy Name. It is music to our heart for Jesus is our only Hope and our Final End. Once the love of Jesus-takes possession of the heart, all earthly vanities depart. Then truth begins to shine, enkindling love divine. Jesus is indeed our Light, our Fount of Life, and our true Joy. The sweetness of His Holy Name surpasses all that we can desire. Thus with Holy Mother Church le us raise ur grateful and fervently exclaim: O Jesus! “May every heart confess Thy name-- And seek Thee more and more” May every voice Thy praise acclaim— “And ever Thee adore” O Jesus Spotless Virgin Flower! Our souls’ true Life, our Peace! To Thee be glory, endless power! And praise without surcease? Concluding Prayer O Sweetest Infant Jesus, Thou Who didst empty Thy Heart for love of me, give me a new heart with which to love Thee. Make known to my spirit the excellence and power of thy Holy Name, so that in all the trials of this life I may pronounce it with confidence and with love. Be pleased to lend an attentive ear to my suppliant prayer; and, if it be for Thy glory and the good of my soul, grant me the petitions of this Novena (Here mention petition)…Now, as I leave Thee Gentle Child Jesus, help me to remember that Thou art our all. “O Hope of every contrite heart, O Joy of all the meek! To those who fall, how kind Thou art, How good to those who seek. “Jesus, our only Hope, be Thou, As Thou Our Prize shalt be.
