Regardless of location and socio-political orientation, the attacks on the World Trade Center served as a reminder to the ubiquity of evil and the delicacy of human life. Here is a piece I wrote after a tragedy a few years ago, yet applies here too. Peace Be… With the beautiful beloved gone Flowers, bright and joyful, yet to bloom Untimely weeded by the master for reasons unknown But now adorning the heavens; centerpiece in the Lord’s room In the delicate hearts of blessed; fortunate to survive Scarred in body and scathed even more in mind Pray, be reignited in them, the joy of being alive and in the eye of the storm, timely comfort may they find Upon the families afflicted, struggling to come to grips How life unleashes its wrath on our very most pure! May the wind dry tears and carry the prayers from their lips And with it, whisk our memories of love to a place more secure Over the land, may sympathy drops continue to shower On all her broken yet resilient people, at a loss of words to say Let faith engulf our homes, now and in the next hour Peace be upon all until the sun comes up, bringing the hope of a new day.. Rest In Peace/ Get Well Soon/ Stay Strong.
