Today marks one year of the death of my mother, but this is not a sad message, but a joyous/inspirational one. Life is full of hard times, harder for some than others, according to the bible we are only given what we can take, and the Lord chasses those he loves. Something Ive learned though her death and an inevitable divorce (still pending) is that in our toughest times, when everything is out of control, faith in Jesus becomes the only viable answer. I like to use the analogy of a cop, firefighter, or military personnel, of what they say after a difficult event. I fell back on my training Our Christian training is no different, hard times are meant to bring us closer to God and each other. Christian training teaches us to pick other up not put them down. It teaches us not to judge, lest we be judged. And it teaches us to proclaim Jesus as our savior. At one time I struggled with that last one, it wasnt cool to talk about Jesus, but no longer. The true gift in my mothers death was her strong faith, to the very end. She led by example and became a testament to faith in Jesus. Jesus never lost faith to his end either, and by doing so granted us eternal life. How petty an earthly existence is when you think about it. Of the two major life occurrences that we cant control (our birth and death) what is the middle made up of? I think troubles (the middle) are a test and proving ground of our worth for entrance to heaven, and given how short life truly is, these troubles are temporary. In the end my mothers death was exactly the trouble I needed as I found myself closer to Jesus. I hope this message is an inspiration to those who are in troubled times. And as your Christian brother know that it is my duty to pick you up, Im always here to listen. Ill see you again, someday in heaven mom. God bless.
