Today marks the 25th anniversary of what became known as the Montreal Massacre at École Polytechnique in Montreal, PQ. The murderer, who blamed women and feminists for his life problems, entered a classroom and separated the men and women. He began shooting only the women in that classroom and hunted the halls for more victims. Before the coward turned the gun on himself, fourteen women had been killed and thirteen more were shot. December 6th 1989. A terrible and tragic day that I remember well. The Tragically Hip wrote a an amazing song with a haunting lyric called Montreal about that day and the days that followed.
