Today marks the 37th anniversary of the death of Elvis and anybody that really knows me, knows what a HUGE Elvis fan I have ALWAYS been. Well, I am showing you something I wrote right after Elvis died. Very few people have seen it but I am choosing today to share it. 💔 On a cold wintry day in a small Mississippi town, A star was born. Although his family worked hard for a living, Second-hand clothes had to be worn. His parents loved him tender, and said his manners Should be at their best, So in a large crowd he stood out from all the rest. He would sit all day just singing and playing his guitar. Little did he know that this talent would take him so far. Bad luck and poverty finally took its toll And one day he woke up to be the King of Rock ‘n Roll. He was soon known and loved all over the world By that body that shook when he sang and that lip that he curled. He was every man’s idol and every woman’s dream And when he let himself go, everyone would scream. Other stars would come and go But none could steal the title from the King of Rock ‘n Roll. As the years flew by and he was rolling in wealth Something terrible was happening; he was losing his health. The rumors were flying from town to town But nothing could tarnish our kings crown. On a hot August day in Seventy Seven His number came up and he was called to Heaven. As the tragic news traveled near and far Thousands were mourning the death of this superstar. So rest in peace, Elvis, the Rock ‘n Roll King Until we’re all called to Heaven and again can hear you sing.
