Today my daughter Kasey and I are going to visit my high school classmate Cheri Robertson in St. Louis. She is out of the hospital and has already had her 1st chemo treatment Wed of this week. Were taking her some get well goodies at the motel where she and her mom Suzie are living at. As some of our 88 Ruckus classmates may or may not remember, Cheri was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and has been blind since age 19. Suzi her mom has been her caretaker all these yrs, and its been real hard on both of them financially. They lost their house in Afton last fall due to a greedy landlord who their still in court battles with, thus the reason now why their living in a motel not far from Coachlight skating rink. Mr Peak our old band teacher, Jen Gravitt and her mom, and Muncie Harris, have all seen or talked to Cheri since while she was in the hospital last week. Cheris still maintaining a grest upbeat Christian attitude during all shes been through lately, and besides the IV chemo treatments she goes in for as an outpatient, she also is taking a chemo pill, two nausea pills, and a pain pill if needed for her lower back pain. Her oncologist is hopeful that treatment will shrink and eliminate the mass in her bowel. If not, surgery will be the next course of action. Cheri is 43. Cheris mom Suzi has not been in the bedt of health either, but is doing the best that she can to tend to Cheri. They need everyones continued support, love, thoughts, visits, encouragement and prayers during what is sure to be a battle ahead for them both. Anyone from our 1988 RHS class who is living in St.Louis, that could take time out of their very busy schedule to call Cheri or visit her, I know would be very much appreciated!!!!!
