Today myself and a congregation of friends, loved ones, and family - TopicsExpress

Today myself and a congregation of friends, loved ones, and family will lay a great man, husband, father, FRIEND, and impeccable human being to rest. We will celebrate the life of Nick Hagood, comfort his wife, children, and family, and crutch each other the best we can. For me to be able to do that, music must be involved, as Nick would probably have agreed. I choose to remember him not as he is in current space in time, but how I remember him...the moments of joy we shared together. I met Nick about 12 years ago through one of my best friends Mr. Clint & Timerie Burnette Podell. I remember meeting Clint and Nick in Columbus GA for a Widespread Panic show one Saturday afternoon. We shared many a laugh and stories while hanging around In the parking lot before the show. We spent the whole show together that evening. I remember a silly conversation that lead to Nicks notorious laughter and caused me to laugh so hard that I dropped both beers I was holding in my hand. He made fun of me the rest of the night in his subtle but very blatant way of doing that with comments of keep it together rook. Ill never forget that laugh. I remember that night Nick had lost his car keys in the parking lot in the post show mayhem. This made Megan, Clint, and our buddy Shawn, as well as Nick stranded for the evening. Needless to say Clint and Shawn rode in the bed of my pickup all the way from Columbus in about 40 degree weather while Nick and Megan were forced to stay and figure it out, which they did later that morning when the street cleaning team found his keys in the lot while cleaning up. An event that I was able to return the joking fun that he had displayed towards me just a few hours before. We laughed for days/weeks/years about this night. Way to lose the keys, rook. Me and that boy shared some really wild and fun times together, times Ill never forget. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Im a better man, person, and friend for having known Nick Hagood. Thank you my brother for everything. I look forward into the pending future with a smile. A smile that says one day you and I will meet again old friend. This time you hold the beers, and I sir, I will guard those keys, rook. He would dig this outro song. One to say everything I cant. Add a fiddle to the mixture, and I know your ass is smiling that Cheshire Cat smile of yours. Much love my brother, to you, to Megan, to your two beautiful children, and to the friends and family that will remember you now and forever. I bid you goodnight Oh, kiss the mountain air we breathe. Good-bye its time to fly. Sparrow climb, the air is thinner, open wings cast this valley in the shade. Fires dance the shadows. Winds whisper the trees. Mother talkin the water. Spirit moves in all things, YOUR SPIRIT it moves through ALL THINGS
