Today, on Teacher Appreciation Day, I commend the 3.6 million teachers across the country dedicated to the betterment of our nation’s youth. Sometimes, it takes a tough teacher to put you on the right track, which is exactly what Mrs. McCall did for me in the 4th grade; she flunked me – and rightly so! What I learned from Mrs. McCall was the importance of working hard and earning your success, principles I share with the many students I meet with each and every year. As a former teacher, I am committed to ensuring that our nation’s children are provided with the best education possible and much of that begins with the dedicated individuals leading our classrooms.
