Today, on the Republic day, I visited pathiramanal, an island near Muhamma-Alleppy, for a holiday trip. Felt curious when I saw sacks of plastic waste and bottles kept near boat jetty. Found two foreign tourists ; Mr.George and Mr.Joe cleaning the island spread in over 100 acres by themselves. They are collecting the plastic waste and bottles and sorting it in sacks to be carried away from island. They are here for nearly 3 months and cleaning the place. When I asked about their intention, they said they want to spread awareness on clean environment. Back of my mind, I felt confused whether I should feel proud to be the citizen of the country or be ashamed of the fact that we need someone from outside to clean our place. They are actually doing Clean India, as they are not doing it for any fame or challenging someone(as is the trend nowadays). Mr.George and Joe thanking you for your contribution towards clean environment.
