Today, on the way to the Labor Day gig, my truck died. The kid at the coffee stand tried to jump it. No go. Hiked over a mile to AutoZone for a new battery. Offered a kid getting parts (the only customer in there) $20 to give me a ride back to the car (I was going to be late!) and he refused the money, gave me a lift, helped my get the new battery in. I finally forced the money on him--he works at a non-union mill, a dangerous one where my son worked. The guy makes a low wage and likely had no health insurance or retirement. Just getting by. He took part of his precious day off to help another working guy. Thanks, Tanner. God gave me something and someone else to be grateful for today. (Thats FOUR things today, Lisa Ann Newton. :) ) Oh. Yes, I set up at the stroke of 11:00 AM, exactly the time the gig was set for. Solidarity is the tenderness of the people.
