Today put the “Endurance” into “Motorcycle Cannonball - TopicsExpress

Today put the “Endurance” into “Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run”! We set off from Junction City, KS around 7:30 am in thick fog and temps in the 30’s. With that kind of humidity it was FREEZING!!! At least I was happy shooting because fog always makes for interesting compositions, and then when it lifted a bit and some sun poked through here and there, it made it even better. While mid-day was a bit dull (at least for me with a low cloud ceiling), as we crossed the Kansas - Colorado state line, it was like a miracle - the grey skies broke apart and all that was left was a solid blue sky. Can you tell I love Colorado? It is good to be home, even if I don’t get to actually see my home (I’ll be 18 miles away tomorrow night!), but even passing through feels great. We finished the ride at the Old Town Museum in Burlington, CO where they hosted a phenomenol meal in the most beautiful barn you can imagine. They basically moved lots of old buildings to this spot to create an authentic looking old town, which is way cool. (I’ll post some of these tomorrow, as I’ve hit my limit with the images already selected.) As for the photos, of course there is a shot of the “Chopper Dudes” because they are just too cool to not put up, Randy Aaron busting through the morning fog, Pat Simmons happy he is running well despite the cold, then I shot some Black and White once I saw the sunshine glistening off the plains landscape, Frank Westfall got into the Old Town leather shop to see if he could conjur an old machine into helping him fix Paul OZ’s bags, how about “Stay Free” from AK and finally Shinya and his riding partner Yoshimasa Niimi working in the hotel parking lot to weld together their center stand that cracked right through the middle.
