Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation that I cosponsored that gives veterans who live in rural areas access to care from their local health care providers instead of traveling hundreds of miles to the closest VA facility – something I have long supported. The bill also gives veterans who have been on a lengthy waiting list access to local non-VA medical facilities. Although much more needs to be done to ensure our veterans receive care when they need it, this is a good start.
