Today the WordSwap family is torn. Amid a conflict that is now - TopicsExpress

Today the WordSwap family is torn. Amid a conflict that is now entering its twelfth day, but third week of missiles, 4 members of our family have been called for reserve duty. Maimoon, Katie, Talia and Lionel have left their homes, work, families and friends. They are going because kids in the South have been forced to spend their summers in bomb shelters. Because 6,000 senior citizens in the South cant leave their homes, cant buy food or prescriptions, for fear of not being able to reach shelter in time in the case of an attack on their city from incoming missiles. Maimoon left his wife Raya, and newborn baby. He has never been away for even a day, now its been over a week. Maimoon isnt leaving to look for war, but to restore peace, for his family and all the families who seek safety and security. Katie has been working around the clock to help protect citizens of the South, as part of the Home Front Command. Her work is invaluable for over a million citizens under attack. Talia doesnt need to serve. She is several months pregnant and could have declined her draft. Her husband and family prefer she stay safe and out of harms way. But Talia cant ignore the situation around her. Shes leaving her home in Jerusalem in order to put her country first. Talia is a reserve officer in the IDF Liaison and Foreign Relations Division. Lionel barely had time to visit his home after a trip abroad before being called to reserves. His wife has had to cope with almost two weeks of missile attacks on her own. Its been a tough week and we pray for our WordSwap family, their families and for the innocent civilians on both sides. WordSwap is committed to its values of dialogue, peace and unity. This is not a conflict Israel asked for. In fact, Israel tried averting it. We support the Israeli and Egyptian governments efforts to restore calm and ceasefire efforts. The refusal of Hamas to cease its constant and intolerable attacks from air, sea and ground have forced Israel to react. No country can ignore hundreds of daily rockets on its civilians, or terrorists tunnels under its feet. And no citizen deserves to be used as a human shield. We pray for #peaceinthemiddleeast, a #freegaza from terrorism and quiet for all. -the WordSwap Family
