Today, there was discussion about a faculty member who had achieved a phenomenal level of knowledge about apples. He apparently just knows everything about them. Someone suggested this faculty member should teach a course in the history of apples because the information is so interesting. After listening, I insisted that if we do offer such a course, we will need to make it part of the core curriculum.
