Today topped off a very emotional week for me: started back to school on Monday...dropped Emily off for her last first day of daycare; on Wednesday, Ben began high school; today, we met Emilys preschool teacher in, as Emily puts it, my new classroom. I had the joy of seeing three former students...one who came to visit me right after school and who let me hold her beautiful baby girl; one who I taught my second year at Lincoln, so my third year teaching, who is a teacher at the preschool; the other, who is a high school senior this year; my student five years ago. These young ladies were so incredibly special while they were my students, and Im overwhelmed that they still allow me to share in their joys... One who is taking great care of securing a wonderful future for her daughter; one is expecting her second child and the other, who has a 4.0 so far (3 days into school, but whos counting, right?). My heart is full. I was barely able to contain my tears watching Emily explore her new classroom, while thinking about the fact that Ben did the same thing this week. Then I met up with my girls, and they made me feel so loved, that I found myself holding back more tears. Lucky, lucky me! Now, Im going to let those years flow, those happy bitterest tears.
