Today was a wonderful day. We headed down to iowa city today for 2 appointments. 1st we saw Dr Menezes (Jackies neurosurgeon) and he was more than ecstatic to see how well she is moving. He said her back looks great and the site is healing well. Even though the incision is healed the inside will take quite a bit of time to heal. From there we went to Dr Weinstein (scoliosis doctor). We had more X-rays and decided that Jackie will get a brace on her back. This will prevent the scoliosis from worsening but will not correct the curve. The whole goal behind the brace is to prevent any surgery to place rods on her spine. Even though she has to wear this brace 14-16 hours a day shes okay with it. Because its better than a surgery. Jackie brought $86 down to the hospital today to donate it to her cause. Some of you know that her cancer doesnt even have a ribbon. Dr Menezes himself called the head of the Iowa Foundation to facilitate a meeting with Jackie to try and get a research foundation started. She is going to talk to this gentleman and tell him her story. I just wonder some days where this kid comes from. She really wants to move mountains. She wants to draw awareness to her rare cancer and pay it forward. So we are! Thank you for all your prayers...they are working and as always take care of each other!
