Today was amazing. After missing out on the Convoy for Camp - TopicsExpress

Today was amazing. After missing out on the Convoy for Camp Quality earlier this month, a friend of ours made contact with a local Police officer who co ordinates the Cops for Convoy. After some initial discussions a few little things were put in place for a special day, of which Joshua knew nothing about. This morning a police car arrived in our driveway and the officer asked for Joshua, and then told him he was coming in the car. In typical cheeky Joshua fashion, he asked if he was in trouble and getting taken to jail. No trip to jail but a drive out to Port Kembla water police. Along the way Marty and Bianca from i98 gave a shout out to our special little boy on the radio. Once we got on the Police boat, a short trip around the harbour and then we were off towards Wollongong. The seas were a little rough but the kids all had a great time, Julia kept saying this is amazing. Once we arrived at the harbour, we were met by the police dog unit along with Sunny, and after a little coxing Joshua fed and pat Sunny. This was a a very brave thing for Joshua to do as he has a fear of dogs. Soon we were back in the middle of Belmore Basin, and were joined by the ambulance rescue helicopter hovering maybe 10 meters above the police boat. Soon two paramedics were whinched down on to the boat, and Joshua was given a stuffed police dog - titan. The whole event brought a lot of on lookers to the shore, and even a pour couple on another boat copped a massive spray from the updrafts. Back on shore and the local fire brigade had arrived with two trucks and a cherry picker fire fighter, which Joshua was able to ride in and be hoisted almost 20 meters in to the air. Back on land and it was fun and games with a fire hose. After the kids had a go at spraying water every where, one of the firemen tried to get Michael to spray a fellow firemen. Didnt go well and the hose was turned on the prankster, mobile phone in pocket, dosed and drenched. Some more shennaningans followed as the water fight continued to escalate. After some photos, a few gifts given to Joshua, and lots of thank you, the family came home in the police highway patrol car, sirens blaring as we entered the street Like we said the day has been amazing, seeing how happy Joshua was. The massive grin, laughter and unbelievable experiences have created wonderful experiences. We wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you to some super special people who made this day happen. Ainsley and Rowen who helped co ordinate the event and take photos of the whole day. Snr Constable Cath Williamson for organising the little event, bringing all the different elements together. The fire fighters, ambulance helicopter and police officers who do an amazing job daily, but to take time to create a special day for Joshua, be so engaging with all the kids and family, these men and women are true heroes. Our driver for the day from highway patrol, Adam bigdog, thank you for making Joshua laugh so much, and the police hat which will take pride of place. Thank you everyone
