Today was an awesome day, too much to tell with so little space, so Ill keep it brief. The day started out with those few whispering jack clouds and that was the beginning for a totally PO day for Pete. For those who know Pete, it’s was a term that he created over 30 years ago. A PO is a photographic orgasm, it’s the high point, the pinnacle, the point of no return and in my photography, you have capture that special event and I had a lot of those today whooohooooo I have no idea if this will get through to ppl tonight as where I am, once again a half bar. Where I am tonight is a stunning place and it s hard to believe that I’m in the desert, the heart of the Australian Outback. I came across this lake and it has filled due to the massive floods that Outback Australia had a few weeks ago. I have the sound of water lapping again the shoreline, wonderful white sand to walk around in and this is place where it would be so nice to sharing it with someone, as the place is so special, maybe my time will come later. It’s only when you are here and realise where you are, then you realise the significance of this water. It was nice to pull up camp an hour before the sun went down tonight as I had a chance to have a bath whooohooo, It is amazing what a bowl of water can do for you and how fresh and new you feel. Standing naked and allowing the gentle breeze to blow through you to dry you is such a good feeling when you have been in the heat for most of the day, although no where near as hot as the previous days. Some understand my obsessions with the awesome skies above and others think I’m a complete wacko but for Pete, the skies bring such contentment and the chase is always on when they are hooting above. When I die, I want stuck wherever they put me these words.. as they determine my photography and I have said this in the past. “The heavens declare the glory of God and the SKIES proclaim the work of his hands …. Ps 19 verse 1 This has been my catch phrase of over 30 years and although I’m nowhere near the best example of someone who does love God, these words I want somewhere where they lay me to rest. When someone reads that, hopefully they will see the awesome nature of the skies, I see the skies as God canvas and each day he paints the canvas differently and it is a free gift for all. You might ask, how can one person get so excited about skies, well I do, even as a little boy I did. Tonight as I was allowing the breeze to dry me, I stood and looked over the lake, watched the skies dance in the twilight and I was ever so grateful for the skies that I had today. To my overseas friends, Australia’s Outback has a different grandeur. You have the grandeur of mountains that are mountains and a massive hole in the ground that you call the Grand Canyon which is out of this world we have as one of our grandeur landscapes the wide-open spaces out in the outback. It is only when you have travelled the vast distances and you stand out in the silence of time, that you will truly appreciate the grandeur of time and space that is before you. The last two pics were quick happy snaps of my campsite as I wanted you to see it before it got dark. Well I hope you all had an awesome Australia Day. I did :) I lay here, with the gentle sound of water lapping the small shore line and looking at the stars, such wonder and delight. Pete☺
