Today was day 18 of my quixotic THE END IS FAR campaign. I received my first $2 toward the first $300 needed to have the first 1,000 buttons made. I was radicalized by my Obama Gratitude Button campaign in the Fall of 12, and while the man cannot seem to please anyone these days, he is far and away the most consequential chief executive in history, in the lives of Lesbians & Gays to have ever held the office. History favors the prepared, and while current events stir all sorts of passions, I sleep well trusting in his dispassionate intellect, reason, and judgement. I wound up spending a good bit of my own money on it, well over $500, but it was an amazing experience. I met supporters from the world over, and in the process found my unlikely place as a Gay rights activist. The button itself, restoring indigo to its rightful place, made it to at least 10 foreign shores. More importantly, I was able to express mail two dozen buttons to The White House the day after that first disasterous debate with Mittens. It was, afterall, intended to say THANK YOU, and I trust they found their mark. However ... My new campaign is of even greater urgency than a mere election. This is a civilized protest against CYNICISM and APOCALYPTIC THINKING, which will be a self-fulfulling prophecy should it go unchecked. If it gives someone a smile, if it changes their thinking for just one moment, I have done my job. I hope to gain fellow distributors as this hopefully gains momentum. I will add the button design tomorrow, as it helps to know what youre sponsoring. I am only looking to raise the initial $300 at this time, please reply in confidence. It is a simple, tho very important message.
