Today was day two of TPPFs Policy Orientation and it started off with Governor-elect Greg Abbott. He shared some funny stories with us about his trip to DC to meet with President Obama. :) Then we had more panels discussing topics such as Medicaid, property taxes and liberty cities. Something that was REALLY fun was getting to meet and talk with Colonel Allen West! He just moved to Texas after being named the new CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas. Of course I fussed him for moving to Dallas County instead of Tarrant County! :) He is incredibly personable and very nice, of course. Then I got to sit with him AND Representative Scott Turner during the lunch session. That was really, really fabulous because Former Senator Phil Gramm and Congressman Kent Hance sat and discussed their years in DC with President Reagan. Their stories were absolutely fantastic. It was a real joy to hear them recount what kind of man and leader President Reagan was. It was another awesome day!
