Today we celebrated International Human Rights Day in a very special way at the first ever Sydney Speak Up Self Advocacy Conference for people with a disability. The conference was run by HWNS employee Erica who received a grant through My Choice Matters - The NSW Consumer Development Fund to make her dream of putting on this conference a reality. The conference covered topics like human rights, discrimination, self advocacy and featured some very inspirational guest speakers. Erica said, The day is being held so people with a disability can have a day and other people can learn to speak up.
