Today we deliver the sentence of life imprisonment on the idea of *implementing* hudud (hopefully, at least in the minds of right-thinking Malaysians), but the space for intellectual discourse is still pretty confined. Well, groups like IRF and SIS are certainly doing a very great job, and I respect and commend them for what they do. But I guess the state of affairs still falls short of the freedom that Id like to see. Until the day when no one would be afraid (e.g. for their life/personal safety) to outright criticize religious teachings/traditions, we shall keep fighting.
