Today we drove to the Cliffs of Moher (pronounced More). Dramatic sight of 700ft sheer cliffs plunging into the Atlantic. Actual exterior shot for the Cliffs of Insanity in The Princess Bride and also in Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. Amazingly calm and beautiful day...very rare we are told. Drove from the cliffs to Doolin. Small, one-lane road much of the way...average road in this part of the country. Kinda freaky when someone else is headed the opposite direction...for us at least, the locals dont mind, they just smile and wave and everybody figures out a solution. Ate lunch at a pub in Doolin. Fantastic salmon with potatoes and mashed carrots and parsnip. Bought an Irish-made wool sweater there at The Sweater Shoppe. Drove on to Ballyvaughn on Galway Bay. Snapped an amazing photo, while standing on top of one of the rock walls, of a rainbow ending at a castle...unbelievable! Lots of sheep! Home by dark, watched a special Dr. Who 50th Anniversary episode on BBC.
