Today we flew to Akureyri in Northeast Iceland. We spent the day touring around the region with several highlights - Godafoss (Waterfall of the Gods) rips straight through huge lava fields, the magical, ochre colored world of Hverir with a lunar like landscape of mud cauldrons and steaming vents, Dettifoss is a massive waterfall with the greatest volume of any throughout Europe, and the amazing honeycomb formations that are normally vertical basalt columns (formed by rapidly cooling lava) show up on the horizontal at Hljooaklettar (Echoing Rocks). Now we are back in Reykjavik, looking forward to the Pride parade tomorrow.
